News Updates
The new Shop-Rite traffic pattern is still a little crazy, but that will change soon enough. The highway department has approved plans to line up Diamond Hill Road and Hendricks Store so they meet directly. This will be a big improvement.

The Route for Interstate 73 has finally been decided. (Click here to see a full page map.) The brown line on the map is where the highway will run, while the green lines were once considered possible paths. Construction of this new highway from Michigan to South Carolina will take at least 10 years. Although well under way in parts of North Carolina, construction in our immediate area is not expected to start for a while.

Still no word about some safety improvements for the intersection of Route 122 and Routes 116/670 in Wirtz. It's 2 years and counting now for the Highway Department to announce something on what is, in my opinion, one of the most dangerous intersections in the entire state. All they say is "we're working on it..."

My recent 12 page full-color personal brochure (mostly about real estate) can be viewed as a PDF by clicking on the picture at right. You can then print it out if you want.  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Shoreline Management Plan has been in effect for 5 years now. Opponents of the original plan, which included myself, were successful in modifying the plan in a half-dozen important ways, including restoration of the use of rip-rap to control erosion. One key item has never been resolved, though, and that is the dredging restrictions. For example, the "plan" forces the property owners in this photo to leave much of this value destroying silt as is, instead of restoring the water to original depth!

The plan, which is simply waterfront zoning at heart, has also caused marina properties to skyrocket in value, since they are almost the only place high density residential construction is allowed any more.

Phase ! of Franklin Co.'s waterfront park is officially complete and the park is now open!. Stop by and enjoy the walking trails of bring your pole and do a little fishing. And for you nature lover's - enjoy the walking trails thru the lovely forest and along the shore!. Phase 2 will begin soon, consisting of a beach area, changing rooms, boat launch, and more. No word yet on construction of a direct road to the park, (instead of coming thru Winding Waters), but I did hear someone say $500,000 for the road was in escrow. (I have not confirmed this.)
